What's New?

Several changes are offered for the new Lincoln Aviator. All new models come with a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.4-inch digital gauge. Though trims like the Reserve and Black Label gain more amenities such as adaptive headlights that can alter the illumination based on speed and steering.

While we're talking about the Black Label, this, too, is getting an update. Along with the adaptive headlights, this trim gets a Special Edition package that adds a black exterior, a black roof, and 22-inch black wheels. Plus, the interior has a new design, which Lincoln is calling the Invitation.

Lastly, all Aviators receive a version of the Blue Cruise hands-free driving tech plus the Lincoln Digital Experience interface. With this interface, the Aviator now has Google Maps and Google's voice assistant.

The Lincoln Aviator is available in three trim levels.

  • Black Label

Performance

Powering every Aviator is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. The engine outputs 400 horsepower, 415 lbs.-ft of torque, and comes with rear-wheel drive. However, in higher trims, like the Premium and Reserve, all-wheel drive becomes an available option.

Fuel Economy

When tested by the EPA, the organization found the Lincoln Aviator to be fuel efficient. When equipped with rear-wheel drive, the vehicle was found to get around 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Though with all-wheel drive, the efficiency dipped slightly to 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Design

The Aviator retains its classy exterior design for the new model year. Although the interior has undergone some slight changes, For instance, shoppers who purchase the second-row captain's chairs now have the options between two center consoles, one of which allows for easier pass-through to the third row.

Speaking of the third row, this has stayed the same and is still best suited for children or young adults. However, the smaller third row allows for more cargo space, as behind the rear seats are about 18 cubic feet of space.

Technology

To accompany such a high-end cabin, Lincoln has given the Aviator a plethora of tech. Along with the updated touchscreen and gauge cluster, features like a satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto capability all come standard. Upgrade to a higher trim, and you'll receive even more features, such as a smartphone app to unlock and start the Aviator, plus a Revel Ultima 3D audio system with 28 speakers.

Safety

All new Aviator models come installed with Lincoln's Co-Pilot360 system. In this bundle are safety features like a forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a rearview camera. By upgrading to the optional Co-Pilot360 1.5, you can get ever more driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and a self-parking system.
